Spring has arrived!
The forsythias are blossoming and we can see that spring hue on all the trees and bushes. It takes a long time to arrive, but it is well worth the wait. Open up the windows, do some spring cleaning. Go to the gym and/or spa. Take a walk, work in the garden, and rejuvenate! Oh, and don’t forget to do a spring review of your finances.
Why We Do What We Do
Costs are important factors in investing, no question about it. It is a serious and important concern that should be factored into all investment decisions. The reasoning is simple: costs reduce overall returns earned! However, and this is a big HOWEVER, portfolio costs despite the media hype and misperceptions of investors is not the be all and end all of the investment process. This is even true when it comes to so-called index investing.
I’ve oft used this Spanish expression to address the subject of costs. It is well known in the Hispanic community but it has relevance for all investors and is one that should be burned in to your core being (and not just for investing):
el barato siempre sale caro (the cheap always comes out expensive!)
I wish you financial, personal, and family success.
